She was in the WORST. MOOD. EVER. No joke. This is my baby girl, the day after her first birthday. She wasn’t having a happy day, but I was determined to get these shots. I had it planned out for weeks. I spent $$$ on her cute little birthday outfit, and had driven by the location four times every weekday (it’s on the way to my son’s school). I got permission from the old man that lives there, and we were ready to go. Only, she wasn’t. She didn’t want to stand next to the cute box I had painted and smile for me. My outdoor-loving baby was suddenly horrified by grass. She cried. She cried a lot. I felt like a bad mom. I would never do this to the children of my clients. But life has been hectic lately and I didn’t know if we would get another chance. My six-year-old did his best to get her to smile, as did I. In the end, I don’t think she smiled even once. But I think the shots are still beautiful. I love them. I even like the ones where she is crying, but you can’t really tell, and it actually looks like she is smiling. Haha! I must be pretty good at my job if I can make tears look like laughter. ;)
I swoon over these pictures. She’s just so precious. My sweet baby turned 6 months the day these photos were taken. We swung by the riverfront park next to Oaks Amusement Park after my son spent the day going on thrill rides. I picked a lovely spot that was literally right in front of where I parked the Jeep.
She had just started doing this cute thing with her lips that day. Did I say cute? I meant adorable!
I don’t usually post the same picture twice, but I couldn’t decide whether I liked the color or the black and white better. It’s a really good color image, but there is something about the high contrast black and white where their eyes are dark and shiney….which do you like better?
Five years ago I photographed the older boy in this family, when he was two. I remember it well–I was very new to professional photography and had rented a lens (maybe a whole camera?) just for the occasion. The cutie fell in the mud, but I still got one of my favorite shots ever from that session.
On Saturday I had the opportunity to photograph his younger brother at the same age. He went from being a camera ham at the beginning of the session to intermittently camera-phobic. He was really adorable.
Had to snag a couple shots of the original cute boy, too, and the whole family. Shooting in November kind of sucks because of the weather, but at the same time, it’s this time of year when the colors are the most vibrant and I get some of my favorite pictures. This session was no exception.
I’m so glad this fun family snagged me for a photo session before they move to Hawaii!! Their adorable daughter is the run-away-from-the-camera type (and run-away-from-her-parents type, too) LOL. Every shot I got was a split-second moment of luck. I loved shooting at this location, a brand new one for me.
